Jasmin Lim, AMFT
I received my Master’s in Counseling Psychology in the Community Mental Health program at California Institute of Integral Studies in 2023. I bring over three years of experience working with people experiencing homelessness, chronic mental health conditions, chronic illness, and substance use and recovery. My experience also includes working with queer and trans people, first- and second-generation immigrants of color, and neurodivergent people navigating the impacts of developmental, systemic, and intergenerational stressors and traumas. I have facilitated 190 therapy groups focused on expressive arts, mindfulness, and emotion regulation skills-building at a harm reduction shelter.
I am a second-generation biracial Chinese and white, neurodivergent, nonbinary woman who was raised by extended family in informal kinship networks. My own mental health journey led me to the mental health field. My approach is relational and collaborative, recognizing clients as the experts of their experience and honoring their strengths, processes, and needs.
Before becoming a therapist, I earned a BA in Art from San Francisco State University. For eight years, I facilitated mindfulness and yoga classes in organizations throughout San Francisco including Chinatown YMCA, Excelsior Health Services, East West Health Services, Chinese Hospital, Asian Women’s Shelter, and The Healing WELL. My work across these settings informs my commitment to building community and working alongside others to repair and heal cycles of intergenerational and historical trauma.
