Rebecca Kent, Trainee

Rebecca Kent is currently a trainee at the Child Therapy Institute pursuing a master’s degree in counseling psychology with a concentration in Expressive Arts Therapy from California Institute of Integral Studies. Growing up with parents who were creatives and part of the counterculture movements of the 1960s in the Bay Area, Rebecca was taught to question traditional structures of authority and design— lessons she continues to value and draw upon in her work as a budding clinician and in her role as a mother to three children, ages 4, 11, and 14.

Living with a chronic autoimmune disease since childhood has shaped Rebecca’s personal experience of healing and her understanding of both the benefits and limitations of traditional Western approaches to health. These experiences have guided her toward a more holistic, integrative, arts-based and person-centered approach to therapy.

As an emerging clinician Rebecca brings compassionate curiosity to her practice. She strives to meet each child and parent where they are and leads with the basic assumption that every person has inherent strengths to draw from and are wholly capable of achieving the outcomes they desire.
